Trash Talk Tampa
You have something to get rid of, and you want to haul it yourself. Where do you take it? These facilities all have limitations on what they can accept. This is based on their operating permit, it's not something they can change or overlook for you. If you are hauling anything unusual or potentially hazardous it's best to call first and make sure that the facility can accept your waste.
Landfills
_The beloved dump of my childhood has been replaced by the engineered
landfill. Liners and careful supervision promise to protect the
environment, yet rarely do. There are several landfills outside of town,
usually these are the cheapest dump cost for heavy loads. Expect some
rough, muddy driving on the hill. Tire problems are common due to the
nature of the sites. Do not expect any sympathy or payment from the
landfill operator if this happens.
_Transfer Stations
_
Several transfer stations are located in Tampa, most are in the scenic
"East of Ybor" Orient Park area. Transfer stations receive material,
then consolidate it into big trucks for efficient transport to landfills
or incinerators
Most transfer stations will sort some recyclables and inappropriate materials out before disposal. Transfer stations tend to cost a little more than landfills, but for most loads you won't notice much difference.

_Recycling
.Many
materials can be recycled. Recycling can cost money, usually less than
dumping, some materials can be dumped for free, some things you can get
paid for. Most recycling facilities specialize in a limited range of
materials, so finding the right facility is the key.
